Every WASART field responder has to start somewhere—and for our newest responders, last Saturday the 19th was a big milestone.
Our Introduction to Field Operations (IFO) class prepares members to deploy with WASART, giving them the hands-on skills and foundation they need to safely work as part of a team in the field.
Throughout the day, volunteers learned about safety, personal protective equipment, communications, small and large animal handling, rescue litter setup and carrying, working with the tripod, and basic rope handling. They also learned how all of those individual skills come together when working as part of a response team.
There’s a lot packed into one day, and completing IFO means these members are now prepared to deploy with WASART when the call comes in.
