Earlier this month, WASART members came together for Emergency Animal Sheltering training — an important part of preparing to support animals and their owners during natural disasters and large-scale emergencies.
Throughout the day, members practiced many of the key components involved in setting up and operating an emergency animal shelter, including intake procedures, animal handling, shelter operations, documentation, safety protocols, and teamwork within an incident command structure. Trainings like this help ensure our volunteers are ready to respond when communities need support most.
Thank you to Stevens Animal Sanctuary for graciously hosting this training and providing such a welcoming space for our team to learn and train together. We always enjoy hanging out with Leroy the cow and all of the amazing animals for the day.
